The Clamshell lighting set up is commonly used in beauty and headshot photography to produce a soft, glowing light which is flattering to most subjects. This is the go-to lighting set up for many commercial headshot photographers, as well as beauty photographers.
The traditional one-light Clamshell set-up consists of the main light, being placed centred in front of your subject, raised slightly above eye level. A boom stand is commonly used for this set up as the light can be boomed over your subject so that the stand’s centre-column doesn’t end up in the frame. The reflector is then used to provide subtle fill from underneath your subject’s chin.

Brilliant product - just as it should be.
I already have two 200Ws Pixapro Lumi studio Flash heads which I am very happy with, but decided to get the more powerful 400Ws version as my main light so that there is plenty of power when using soft boxes with diffusers and other light modifiers. I decided to use this same UK based seller again because of their fast delivery service, UK backup and warranty and so I could be certain that it would be designed for UK voltage and fitted with UK 3 pin plug and power cable.
This light has all the features that I consider to be important: Flash brightness as claimed and verified using my light meter, wireless USB port for optional wireless control , 6 stop range, internal cooling fan, auto power dump, reflector supplied, glass dome lamp protector supplied, auto memory, LED power display.
I already have a wireless transmitter and spare receiver for use with this light and everything works as it should do. I like being able to switch off modelling lights remotely rather than using the manual switch on the back of the head to avoid shaking a hot modelling bulb and reducing its life span.
So everything is up and go for my next shoot in two days time
