BeamLight Max90: A Top-Notch Cinematic Parallel Beam Light

Godox continues showcases its latest advancements in lighting technology, marking a significant shift from their earlier focus on compact and portable lights to game-changing high-power fixtures served for professional applications. Central to this innovation is the KNOWLED lighting ecosystem, such as MG series, P series, TP series, F series, etc which represents a leader in advanced technology from Godox.

Though, Godox haven't stopped there. In April 2024 at the CCBN exhibition in Beijing, the Beamlight Max90 launched, further expanding the accessory range for the Godox KNOWLED light series. This is the very first Parallel Reflector in the KNOWLED range, which breaks the limitations of standard accessories by creating effectiveness for long-range illumination. It caters to the exacting demands of modern cinematography, perfectly suiting cinematic applications, either for long throw distances or indirectly bouncing light.

5-Degree Beam Angle | Breaking Down LED Boundaries

Godox designed the Beamlight Max90 with innovative, cutting-edge optical design and precision techniques that allow it to achieve an exceptionally narrow beam angle of only 5 degrees. Meanwhile, the BeamLight can create intense, focused beams, perfect for applications requiring high illuminance levels over extended distances. With its ability to emit extremely focused beams of light, it also increases the effective light output from your light source, minimising light fall-off. Moreover, it can deliver parallel beams with slow decay that have the qualities of natural sunlight, making them perfect for replicating natural sunlight over long distances. It is an ideal option for large-scale shoots, outdoor scenes, and situations where replicating the natural characteristics of sunlight is crucial.

G-mount system | Future of Cinematic Lighting

Similar to other KNOWLED Light models, the BeamLight Max90 crafts a powerful parallel beam of light using Godox's robust G-mount system. This system, larger and stronger than the standard Bowens mount, ensures safe and quick mounting of fixtures and is compatible with the MG1200Bi and MG2400Bi, as well as the brand new MG1200R RGB. With its designed electronic optics, it can automatically recognise the attached modifier, allowing the fixtures to optimise its output based on specific modifiers used. This functionality enhances the overall lighting quality, making it adaptable to a wide range of scenarios and ensuring optimal performance. Furthermore, when integrating the Max90 beam light with the MG2400Bi LED light, it creates a brightness level comparable to traditional 12K HMI fixtures while reducing power requirements and simplifying the setup.

Advanced Versatility | An LED Innovative Solution

The BeamLight Max90 enhances the benefits of LED lighting systems over traditional lights in several ways:

  • It offers easy dimming, allowing for precise control over light intensity to suit different scenes and moods.
  • Convenient brightness adjustment enables quick changes to the lighting setup without the need for complex reconfigurations.
  • The ability to switch correlated colour temperature (CCT) seamlessly allows for versatile lighting adjustments, ensuring the right ambiance and colour tone for various environments.

This versatility makes the BeamLight Max90 suitable for a wide range of shooting situations. Additionally, the BeamLight yoke design offers 180-degree flexibility for angle adjustments, enabling users to direct light precisely where it's needed. Whether aiming for a focused beam to highlight a subject or a broader spread to illuminate a larger area, the yoke's flexibility ensures optimal lighting placement.

Professional Applications

In filmmaking, its narrow beam can effectively simulate sunlight or moonlight and also an ideal option for creating the illusion of natural light from a distance in outdoor shots. For stage and event lighting, the focused beam is perfect for spotlighting performers or specific areas on stage during live events or theatre productions. It also has the ability to create volumetric lighting effects and maximize the utilization of light, especially when combined with LiteFlow cine reflectors to achieve different degrees of softness, providing flexibility and creative control over the lighting setup.
