Godox P600R: The Newest Film-Grade RGB LED Panel
Last year, we discussed the LDX series, the first generation of panels from Godox. Expanding on this, Godox introduced the P600B bi-colour panel, the first light from its new P series, in early 2023 and has now followed up by combining even more cutting-edge technologies to create the P600R panel series in RGB light with both soft and hard lighting varieties. The P Series, designed especially for professional videography and filmmaking, is developed with outstanding output for it's size. Find out more about these two new panels below.

The P600R soft, showcased at IBC 2023, is a larger version of the Godox P300R, a 2x1 panel including a detachable front diffuser. It features 8 independently adjustable pixels for high pixel density, enabling realistic light mapping.

Conversely, the P600R hard is a medium-sized RGB LED with a 1x1 form factor. In contrast to the P600R soft, the Godox P600R hard light panel lacks a diffuser on the front. It is coated in individual projection lenses to focus light, resulting in a more intense and narrower beam, with the fixtures' optical lens design increasing the light-emitting distance. This enables high output, providing versatile and cost-effective illumination for larger spaces and enhancing compatibility with diverse lighting scenarios.
The Godox P600R hard light weighs 11.22 kg and measures 19.5 x 22.4 x 4.7" in comparison to the P600R soft's 30.6 x 22.23 x 6" dimensions and 17.8 kg weight.
The back of these panel lights uses advanced airflow and high-performance silent fans to address the demanding heat dissipation requirements for maximum power density and provide noise-free, steady illumination during long periods. These panels have on-board controls with a screen and a single pushable knob to dim and change the colour temperature, just like other Godox lights. In addition, there's a menu button, a control lock button, and a mode button for effect controls. Two of the panels have two plastic handles and four metal eyelets for handling convenience.
Godox P600R Panel Light | Light Performance
The Godox P series is one of the most powerful panels from Godox. Two versions support full power output across the entire CCT (correlated colour temperature) range: the Godox P600R soft panel light delivers up to 600W of power with a claimed output of 3230lux (@5600K, 3m), while the P600R hard steps further with an impressive 650W of power and a claimed output of 8980 (@5600K, 3m). Thus, the P600R soft promises a 50% power boost and a 30% gain in light efficiency over traditional space lights. This implies that it may provide more light with less power usage, which is great for large, uniformly lighted spaces and improves the overall quality of illumination while using less energy.
On the other hand, the P600R Hard offers 30% more powerful light than traditional 4-head space lights, which is perfect in situations where concentrated light is needed, such as spotlighting or drama. However, these panels' flexibility to adjust and optimise the lighting for different scenes, no matter whether soft, diffused lighting or intense, focused light is required. Both versions are designed to handle demanding lighting setups, whether for high-speed video capture or large-scale productions.
2. Full-Colour Brilliance
Both of these Godox P600R panel lights offer full RGB coverage with CRI≥96 and TLCI≥96, and a CCT range of 1,800K–10,000K. This allows users to match the lighting of different environments and achieve the desired mood for the scenes, from the warm, orange houses of candlelight (1,800K) to the bright, blue-tinted light of a clear sky (10,000K). To maximise efficiency and accuracy, these panels support various control models, including RGBW, HSI, CCT, Gel, XY and FX models. For example, adding a white LED to the standard RGB setup is ideal for achieving natural-looking light with improved brightness and colour fidelity. While utilising an X, Y coordinate system to select colours based on their position in the chromaticity diagram, which is particularly useful for replicating specific light sources or achieving exact colour
3. Colour Consistency
As mentioned above, the P600R soft features 8 independently adjustable pixels, allowing for highly detailed and realistic lighting mapping. Meanwhile, the Godox P600R soft can adapt to the dynamic lighting changes of virtual environments with ease, enabling characters to blend in more naturally and producing a more realistic and dramatic visual impression. Additionally, it has 8-bit and 16-bit options for fine-tuning. While the 8-bit mode offers 256 levels of colour, which is suitable for standard applications, the 16-bit mode provides 65,536 levels of colour, enabling high-end video projects. Moreover, to maintain consistent light output over time, the P600R Soft features premium LEDs and rigorous colour calibration for uniform colour accuracy across all units.
On the other hand, the Godox P600R RGB hard light utilises high-quality light sources and industry-leading colour-blending technology to achieve smooth and precise colour reproduction.
4. Ecosystem Solution
These two panels are part of the KNOWLED series, which provides an extensive selection of accessories for customisable illumination. These panels seamlessly collaborate with the entire Godox KNOWLED lineup, effortlessly adapting to various setups in complex scenes, from outdoor locations to indoor settings. Additionally, with a broad array of accessories, these panels enhance light efficiency for diverse requirements, regardless of the complexity of the on-set environment.
❝ There are abundant light control accessories and good light control effects: octa softbox, rectangular softbox, barndoor, honeycomb, light bracket, and more ❞
5. Professional Controls
Both the Godox P600R hard and soft panel lights feature a built-in LumenRadio chip, ensuring accurate lighting adjustments even in complex environments with numerous devices. This support for CRMX functionality guarantees reliable wireless communication, which is crucial for maintaining consistent lighting control in complex on-set environments. For direct adjustments, onboard controls, Bluetooth, and the Godox app offer straightforward and convenient options for quick changes during a shoot. In large-scale productions, DMX support makes these lights ideal, providing the flexibility and reliability needed to manage extensive lighting setups efficiently, reducing setup time and improving overall production quality.
