Godox's Answer to 80's Nostalgia - The Lux Junior
Wanting to take your photography back to the 80's for that retro feel? Godox's new super compact on-camera flash, the Lux Junior, is designed for all kinds of photographers, whether you're a beginner and want to try something simple for your first foray into flash, or if you're an experienced photographer just looking to add a vintage style to your photos!
Compatibility
Since the Lux Junior is a manual Speedlite, it can be used with a wide range of cameras, including Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Fujifilm and more. So no matter what camera you have, as long as it has a hotshoe mount, it'll work! It will also work with film cameras so you can make your retro-styled photos as authentic as possible! It even comes with a triggering cable too.
The Junior is also super compact at just 7cm across and 130g in weight, making it perfect for day-trips or for taking on holiday/travelling with! Simply pack it in your bag, pop it onto your camera and you're ready to go! It couldn't be simpler. Plus, the Junior is powered by AAA batteries, meaning you don't have to worry about recharging your flash before use. Though, this means your proverbial mileage may vary in terms of how many flashes you can get from your unit with each fresh set of batteries depending on which ones you use.
Specs
In terms of product specifications, the Junior, being quite a simple flash unit doesn't come with super in-depth information. However, it has seven levels of flash power, between 1/1 – 1/64, and colour temperature of 6,000K ±200K.
It has a fixed focal length of 28mm, and has manual dials and buttons on the back of the unit to allow you to tailor the aperture, power, distance and ISO for your photos.
Manual vs Automatic Mode
Godox's design team has taken both beginners and seasoned photographers into mind when designing the Lux Junior. The "A" mode has been designed to help you calculate proper exposure to make your shooting experience easier. For those feeling more adventurous, the "M" mode is trickier, but enables you to unlock more creative possibilities and take photos with classic controls by letting you tailor your settings to your desire. Change modes by simply changing the dial on the back of the Junior to "M" or "A".
Ready to achieve your 80's retro photography dreams?
The Junior is perfect for so many kinds of photography, such as street photography, portraiture, even fashion photography! Take it anywhere with you, use it on location or at events! Due to it's simple features and easy Automatic mode, anybody can use this mini flash unit and it's perfect for beginner photographers, especially young budding photographers, who'd like to get started using flashes. And at the price point of around £73, it would be great as a gift or to save up towards to try out. Or if you are a seasoned photographer, it's still a super handy mini flash to add to your kit bag for those days that you'd like to have some fun and create some retro looking images.
