The Godox AD200Pro Flash vs the NEW AD200PRO MKII
The long-awaited AD200Pro II has now been announced by Godox! The successor to the renowned AD200 Pro, the MKII has been introduced with a wide range of upgraded features to help you shoot with more ease and efficiency than ever before. We've compared the key features of the original and new AD200Pro flashes right here so you can decide whether to upgrade to the new model.
What's changed?
Both AD200Pro models maintain a lot of similarities and function primarily the same way despite some features changing. Designed as a compact battery flash, both models are the same size and shape, with the MKII version also having the same interchangeable heads feature that makes the AD200Pro so popular (meaning you can continue using the same modifiers and accessories)! Plus, both also use the same battery pack, meaning any spare AD200Pro batteries will work on the new iteration just fine. Handy!

The New and Upgraded MKII Features
Upgraded Flash Heads and Modelling Lamps
Despite being mostly compatible* with the MKI flash heads, the MKII has improved supplied flash heads with the unit, with the H200J II and H200 II! The new cooling design improves heat dissipation, ensuring optimal performance without overheating, even during prolonged use.
For both flash heads, the modelling lamp has also been upgraded to an adjustable, more powerful Bi-Colour continuous LED light for improved image pre-visualisation. The H200J II offers up to 5.5 hours of continuous modelling light, while the H200II provides up to 6 hours-both enough to cover a full shoot!
*Please note, the EC200 extension head is not compatible with the AD200Pro MKII fresnel heads due to an added connection on the head.
X3 One-Tap Connectivity
While both AD200s are compatible with all Godox 2.4GHz triggers due to their built-in receiver, the AD200Pro II's new "One-Tap Sync" function enables instant synchronization with the X3 Flash Trigger. Simply tap the wireless sync on the X3 and select the sync icon on the AD200ProII, they'll synchronize wirelessly in mere seconds. No more need to manually switch Channels and IDs!
User Interface and Screen Upgrades
Boasting a new vibrant and high quality TFT full colour screen with enhanced brightness and contrast, the AD200Pro II screen is improved over the MKI's backlit LCD screen, ensuring optimal visibility, even in challenging lighting scenarios.
Upgraded Groups
The AD200Pro II has now been upgraded to 16 groups, compared to the MKI's 5 groups. Each group is now also represented by a different colour, displayed on both the flash and on the X3 trigger itself, allowing you to easily identify which lights are in which group.
Output Range
The AD200Pro II offers a wider and more precise flash power output control, adjustable from 1/512 to full power 1/1 with 0.1 increments, in comparison to the MKI's 9-stop range at 1/256 to 1/1. This level of precision allows photographers to fine-tune their lighting for exact results by tailoring the light to your personal needs.
Power Options
The AD200Pro II now also includes a power port on the unit to connect to the Godox PB960 power pack, ensuring uninterrupted shooting with faster recycling and extended battery life for those longer shoots. For added flexibility, a compact USB charger is also available.
Price
Despite the new upgrades, the price of the new AD200Pro II remains the same as the MKI at £348.00 RRP on our website to enable you the choice to purchase whichever option best suits you! Find the full comparison for specifications below so you can compare the important technical features.
