Blackmagic Design ATEM 1 M/E Constellation HD is the world’s most powerful HD live production switcher with each SDI input featuring a full standards converter. ATEM Constellation includes advanced features like DVEs, ATEM advanced chroma keyers, media players, multiviews, and a built-in Fairlight audio mixer with a compressor, limiter, 6-band EQ, and expander on each input.

True Broadcast Style Mix Effects Switching

ATEM Constellation uses a professional "program/preview" operation, the same as large broadcasters. With the free ATEM Software Control or optional ATEM Advanced Panels, you can preview sources before switching them live with the CUT or AUTO button. This two-step process reduces mistakes, making ATEM Constellation an ideal choice for training students in broadcast television.

Full Front Panel Control

ATEM Constellation offers similar features to ATEM Mini, making it a great upgrade for larger productions. The front panel uses premium, reliable buttons found on full-sized panels and allows control of keyers, media, and fade to black. It also includes a 5-pin talkback headset connector and controls. The front panel LCD and menu buttons provide access to nearly all switcher functions.

Standards Converted SDI Inputs

The ATEM 1 M/E Constellation HD features with 10 3G-SDI inputs, each featuring its own dedicated up and cross converter. This allows any 1080p input to be converted to the switcher's video standard, ensuring seamless compatibility even with different television standards across inputs.

Customizable SDI Outputs

The SDI outputs allow you to independently route any input or internal source to each output, ideal for stage screens, recorders, or streaming processors. They also support ISO recorders with resynchronized inputs and matching timecode. All outputs include program audio, RP-188 timecode, SDI camera control, tally, and talkback.

USB Webcam Output for Video Software

The USB-C connection on ATEM Constellation functions as a webcam source, allowing you to plug into a computer and use any video software. It appears as a standard webcam but operates as a live production switcher, ensuring full 1080p HD compatibility. Use it with software like Zoom, Teams, Skype, or streaming tools like Open Broadcaster and XSplit for professional multi-camera presentations.

Multiview with Labels, Tally and Meters

The built-in multiview lets you monitor multiple sources on one screen. All external SDI and internal video sources can be routed to any view, with customizable layouts for 4, 7, 10, 13, or 16 views. You can overlay tally borders, source labels, and VU meters, with red and green borders indicating which sources are live.

Broadcast Transitions, DVE, Stingers and More

ATEM Constellation offers a variety of broadcast-quality transitions, including mix, dip, and wipe, all customizable in the control menus with options for border color, width, position, and direction. The built-in DVE allows for dynamic transitions, such as squeezing the current picture off-screen or creating graphic wipes. A preview transition feature helps eliminate errors by allowing you to set up transitions before going live.

Built in DVE for Video Effects

ATEM Constellation offers up to 4 independent DVEs, enabling real-time repositioning, resizing, and scaling of graphics for picture-in-picture effects. The DVEs feature customizable 3D borders, shadows, and lighting. They also allow for exciting transitions with squeeze and swoosh effects, and can be combined with custom graphics to create graphic wipe transitions.

Professional Broadcast Talkback

Talkback on ATEM Constellation supports a 5-pin XLR headset connector and an RJ12 port for ClearCom or RTS systems. It includes program and engineering loops, sidetone control, and program mix. The system also supports SDI talkback on channels 15 and 16 for two-way communication with Blackmagic cameras, and channels 13 and 14 for engineering talkback. You can even mix the talkback mic into the program audio for voiceovers.

New ATEM Advanced Chroma Keys

ATEM Constellation is ideal for news or virtual set work with advanced keyers for high-quality chroma and luminance keying. The powerful chroma keyer includes a colour picker for automatic key parameters, precise edge and flare controls, and a foreground colour corrector for seamless compositions. It also supports pattern and DVE keying.

Truly Professional Audio

ATEM Constellation is the first live production switcher to integrate full professional audio production. All SDI inputs connect to a built-in Fairlight audio mixer with 6-band EQ, compressor, limiter, noise gate, and expander. It also supports additional audio sources like analog inputs and talkback microphones.

Free Software Control Panel

The ATEM Software Control Panel provides full control over your switcher and is included for free. It features a user-friendly interface with a visual switcher and parameter palettes for quick adjustments. Multiple users can connect via Ethernet and work simultaneously on different parts of the event. It also supports camera control, audio mixing, media management, macro programming, and HyperDeck control. You can save the switcher’s state as XML files and back up media from the pool.

Industry Standard Professional Camera Control

The ATEM Camera Control Panel offers 4 industry-standard controllers, delivering the same workflow as high-end camera chains. Portable and compact, it can be placed on a desktop or rack shelf. It sends commands via SDI camera control, supporting Blackmagic URSA Broadcast and Studio Cameras. With dedicated controls for RGB colour, master gain, black, iris, and more, the layout is ideal for both experienced and new operators.
