Elegantly Designed Professional Broadcast Deck

The redesigned HyperDeck Studio recorders offer numerous new features. Advanced models include broadcast-style front panel controls, more rear panel connections, and an LCD screen with light and dark modes. The transport buttons are now sturdier, with a professional feel. Pro models feature a machined metal search dial with a rubber surface and active clutch, similar to traditional broadcast decks. Dual media slots allow card swaps without interrupting recording, and advanced models also include a front headphone jack and speaker.

ISO Recording

Bright Colour LCD Status Display

HyperDeck Studio features traditional deck-style controls, including a search dial for jog, shuttle, and scroll. The compact LCD shows timecode, transport info, a color thumbnail preview, and recording status for each card, along with video format, frame rate, and audio levels. It also includes video monitoring and selectable audio meters (VU or PPM). With familiar VTR-style controls and a built-in LCD, HyperDeck Studio is quick to use and easy to learn.

Traditional Broadcast Deck Controls

HyperDeck Studio features a broadcast-style control panel for quick operation. Press the record button to start recording instantly, with easy file format changes from the menu. Transport controls allow playback, rewind, fast forward, and clip navigation. Front panel buttons send commands to the rear RS-422 remote output for controlling multiple units.

Supports SD Cards, UHS‑II Cards or SSDs

All HyperDeck Studio models support recording to affordable SD and UHS-II cards, while Pro models also include two SSD slots for added media flexibility. SD cards and SSDs are ideal for broadcast due to their small size and low cost. With H.264, files are small, allowing long recordings even on inexpensive cards. You can also record to external USB disks. With H.265, you can record up to 58 hours in 2160p60 Ultra HD or 157 hours of H.264 in 1080p59.94 on a 1 TB card—over 6 days of HD recording.

Dual Media Slots For Non‑Stop Recording

All HyperDeck Studio models feature dual media slots for continuous recording. When one card fills up, recording automatically switches to the next. This allows "hot swapping" during long live events. Each slot has a status indicator (red for recording, green for playback). Models also support long file recordings for easy distribution. The studio is easy to repair, with each card slot using a replaceable PCB assembly for durability.

Record to External USB-C Media Disks

The USB-C expansion port allows you to connect an external flash disk for recording, offering unlimited capacity compared to SD cards or SSDs. You can record directly to a disk array for editing, saving time by skipping file transfers. Simply move the disk to a computer and start editing. Adding a Blackmagic MultiDock 10G with 4 SSD slots expands compatibility with SSD media on HyperDeck Studio Mini and Plus models. The built-in LCD also includes menus for managing external disks.

HyperDeck supports popular codecs, including DNx, ProRes, and H.264 with up to 10-bit 4:2:2 quality in NTSC, PAL, 720p, 1080p, and 1080i formats. The 4K model also adds H.265 for Ultra HD recordings. This provides compression ratios of 60:1 to 285:1 for small, high-quality files. You can choose uncompressed PCM or AAC audio for YouTube uploads. All models support ExFAT and HFS+ disk formats, with long-duration single-file recordings.

HyperDeck Studio offers a variety of video and audio connections, including 3G-SDI, 6G-SDI, or 12G-SDI, and HDMI for TVs and projectors. Pro and Plus models feature an SDI monitoring output with on-screen status and two SDI outputs for ProRes 4444 files, enabling simultaneous fill and key output. The alpha channel is automatically converted to the key SDI output for real-time keying in live production switchers. Blackmagic ATEM switchers can sync playback to transitions via Ethernet.

USB Webcam Output for Video Software

HyperDeck Studio offers USB webcam support for easy compatibility with video software. By connecting directly to a computer, it sends live broadcast-quality video, tricking the computer into recognizing the HyperDeck as a standard webcam. HyperDeck Studio supports up to 16 channels of professional SDI audio. You can choose to record 2, 4, 8, or 16 channels in real time from the SDI input. The SDI monitoring overlay shows the enabled audio channels, with meters displaying 2, 4, 8, or 16 channels at once. The audio meters use accurate ballistics, and you can switch between VU and PPM meter displays in the LCD menu.

All HyperDeck models support remote media uploads via FTP. Remote deck control uses a simple text-based protocol, allowing commands like "play" or "record" through apps like Telnet. Combined with a USB-C disk array, HyperDeck becomes a powerful broadcast server for ingest, media management, and playback.

Traditional RS-422 Broadcast Deck Control

HyperDeck Studio supports the RS-422 protocol, widely used in broadcast equipment since the 1980s. It connects seamlessly to broadcast systems and supports additional commands for managing disk recorders with the Advanced Media Protocol. When designing RS-422 control solutions, HyperDeck Studio is identified by the IDs 0xF0E0 (30/60p), 0xF1E0 (25/50p), or 0xF2E0 (24p). Built in Timecode and Sync Generators

All HyperDeck models include built-in timecode and sync generators, allowing you to stack multiple units for digital signage or multi-channel recording.
